Avatar
An avatar is the 'descent to earth' or incarnation of a god, in the form of a human or animal, the form taken by the god during its (temporary) sojourn on earth.
An incarnation, but definitely not a reincarnation, as is sometimes incorrectly stated.
Rama and Krishna, for instance, are the most famous avatars of Vishnu.
