A series of black-and-white devotional photographs by Lucas Varro
There are places in the world where silence gathers and does not leave. Angkor is such a place.
For over a decade, artist and photographer Lucas Varro has walked the sacred ruins of Angkor with a quiet devotion, returning daily to the temples at first light, through monsoon rains, beneath stars, and into fog. Working exclusively with large and medium format analogue film, Varro creates black-and-white photographs that are more invocation than document—each one patiently composed, hand-toned, and shaped by light into something both ancient and eternal.
The Spirit of Angkor is a series born of stillness and reverence. Each image in this collection is a moment of spiritual recognition: a prayer carved in stone, a guardian in mist, an apsara catching the breath of dawn. These are not images of temples—but meditations with them. Echoes of a deeper listening.
All prints are offered as museum-quality, limited edition archival pigment prints, hand-toned by the artist on sustainably crafted Hahnemühle Bamboo paper. Each work is accompanied by a Collector’s Print Package including poetic writings, curatorial texts, and field notes drawn from the artist’s daily pilgrimages.
To walk among these temples is to enter another rhythm of time. This series is an offering for those who can still hear it.
