Dharanindravarman II (Khmer: ធរណីន្ទ្រវរ្ម័នទី២; also titled Paramanishkalapada) was a fervent Buddhist, a first cousin of Suryavarman II and, most importantly, the father of the future Jayavarman VII, who he sent to live in the former Champa city of Vijaya that had been won during Suryavarman II’s military campaigns.
Dharanindravarman II seems to have ruled from the stronghold of Preah Khan of Kompong Svay, and it is not certain that he ever reigned in Angkor. It is likely that he undertook an important construction programme at Preah Khan of Kompong Svay and Beng Mealea Temple, and probably made additions, including Buddhist scenes, to Chau Say Tevoda Temple and Banteay Samre Temple (two temples generally linked to the reign of Suryavarman II).
