Little is known about Jayaviravarman. He probably overthrew his brother Udayadityavarman I, who had only ruled for a few months, and ruled from Yashodharapura (Angkor). His rule was contested from the north by the usurper Suryavarman I, who finally prevailed in 1010 CE.
