"Not enemies, but witnesses."
—From the artist’s field journal

Beneath a leaden dawn at Preah Khan, a lion carved in stone faces a strangler fig—two ancient forms locked in stillness, held in silent confrontation.

In this reverent image, Lucas Varro captures a sacred moment of equilibrium—one shaped by age, erosion, and unseen memory. The guardian, streaked white with lichen, stands against the living surge of root and vine. Behind them, the temple retreats into shadow. The scene speaks not of violence, but of witness—two presences acknowledging one another across the gulf of time.

Composed using a large format analogue camera and recorded in natural light with long exposure, the photograph gathers atmosphere and stillness into form. In the studio, the artist meticulously hand-toned the print, using chiaroscuro to draw out both the physical textures and the emotional hush of the morning.

Printed on museum-grade archival paper and issued in a limited edition of 25 with 2 artist’s proofs, Silent Confrontation is a testament to patience, presence, and the quiet gravity of sacred ruins. Each print is signed, numbered, and crafted for longevity.

Collectors are warmly invited to include this piece in a thoughtful, spiritually attuned collection.
