Agni is the god of fire, one of the major Vedic gods with Indra, Varuna and Surya.

Agni grants immortality and cleanses sin, and is as such the initiator of sacrificial rites, the intermediary between men and the gods.

Agni, associated with a goat or a ram in Hindu tradition, is represented on a rhinoceros in Khmer temples.
